SUMMARY
People Tech upgraded PeopleSoft HCM from 8.9 to 9.2. & PeopleTools 8.49 to 8.53. We engaged in Kronos support in QA and provided functional and technical support including Capital Projects. We also assisted in database migration across datacenters wherein databases were successfully migrated from one data data center to other with minimal downtime.
1.PeopleSoft Upgrade and Support
OVERVIEW
- People Tech Group worked with the world’s largest e-commerce conglomerate on modules like PeopleSoft HCM 9.2, Payroll, Kronos Time and Attendance, Kronos Rollout, Workday, Absent Management, Payroll interface for USA.
- The scope of the project included:
- PeopleSoft Upgrade assessment and execution of highly customized HCM Upgrade from 9.1 to 9.2.
- Fit-gap analysis, Comparison of Reports and Data Conversions.
- PeopleSoft Security Administration.
- Develop Business Requirement Documents, Technical Design, Unit Test Plans and SIT.
- Retrofit of 250+ complex custom objects.
- Peak project team size of 60 personnel.
SOLUTION PROVIDED BY PEOPLE TECH GROUP
- Prepared project charter to present business case for upgrade and got buy off from stake holders to execute upgrade project.
- Identified and analyzed 3000+ undocumented customizations.
- Rolled up all related small projects into bigger size projects with unique functionalities and formed 110 master projects.
- Performed fit gap analysis of the identified 110 master projects and identified keep/drop objects.
- Leveraged PeopleSoft Test Framework to test security retrofits.
- Performed end to end retrofits, development, QA, SIT & supported UAT.
- Planned and executed final cutover with minimal downtime.

- Built documentation of all customizations by master project for any future use.
- We defined development process for all future enhancements.
- Go-live was done by renaming the production database.
- Setup Oracle replication for production database.
- On the day of cut over, brought down the primary database, made it as read only so that downstream applications can access PeopleSoft data while upgrade is in progress.
- Secondary database is renamed to a temporary name, performed upgrade on temp database, after upgrade is complete, rename the team instance to upgraded PROD instance.
- Updated TNS entries to point all integrations to newly upgraded database and shut down old release PROD in read only mode for any future reference.
- Successful Go Live & support transition as per schedule.
2. Implementation of HR and Payroll
OVERVIEW
- The project scope was to:
- Establish standard HR and payroll administrative processes across sites and countries, adapted to comply with local requirements.
- Redefine business processes across all countries to follow a standardized process.
- Eliminate external applications serving features that can be implemented in PeopleSoft.
SOLUTION PROVIDED BY PEOPLE TECH GROUP
- People Tech implemented multiple PeopleSoft HR modules including PeopleSoft Global Payroll, T&L & several other bolt-on applications.
- People Tech proposed the following solution:
- Automate integration of employee life cycle events end to end.
- Improve payroll reporting across countries.
- Define and implement Time and Labor functional domain(s) and automate integration instance to upgraded PROD instance.
- Implement PeopleSoft Global Payroll.
- Build various framework/utilities to support ongoing global rollouts.
- Data Conversion platform using CIs, Reusable test scripts; automation scripts for load tests, Go-live templates and checklists.
- The current time reporting system is BOSCH; however, with this Time and Labor implementation, all time data will be captured in PeopleSoft for future reference and will become the system of records.
- Germany has the High-Volume Hiring [HVH] at times, going forward they can easily hire any number of employees with less manual entries.
- PS Payroll interface will take care of data transfer in/out from PS and will maintain the employee payroll information in sync with ADP and going forward PS will be the system of records.
- Making the PS system as system of records for both payroll and time and Labor modules. This gives the flexibility to get rid-off the existing systems used for payroll and time data and can completely implement PS ERP system for Time and Payroll processing (may be done in future).

3. Database Migration Across Datacentre
OVERVIEW
- Retail Giant uses PeopleSoft applications hosted on Oracle DB to manage their worldwide employee data and processes.
- Retail Giant was running their application on Oracle 10g and application on PeopleSoft 8.9 for more than 10 years.
- Current hardware was not scalable for increasing growth of employee head count worldwide.
- Initiative was planned to upgrade database, application and also provision it on new hardware.
SOLUTION PROVIDED BY PEOPLE TECH GROUP
- People Tech proposed the following solution:
- Performed growth analysis and database sizing.
- Identified and defined new hardware requirements, worked with support team to provision and install new hardware in new data center.
- Many fulfilment centers across globe uses HR databases for validating employee and badge data for time tracking services, so system shut down for more than 30 mins had bigger impact. Total application upgrade tasks were planned for over 44 hours of activity including database migration.
- Implement PeopleSoft Global Payroll.
- Designed approach to keep DB up and running in read only mode for downstream application to access the data, whereas replicated copy is upgraded to new version.
