Harald is an automotive Industry Leader and Chief Technologist with more than 23 years of experience and leadership roles in software engineering, architecture, and product strategy.

In his last role at Red Hat Harald was the Auto Industry Lead with focus on Software-defined Vehicle (SDV).

In his parallel role as Chief Technologist for Automotive, he defined blueprints and solution strategies for relevant SDV use cases like innovating in-vehicle runtime and E/E architectures with an ASIL-B certified Linux In-Vehicle OS, efficient software factory, AI enriched SDV loop, virtual testing, and optimizing SDV operations.

Harald ramped-up the Red Hat SDV and embedded Linux capabilities and lead various engagements including PoCs and projects defining the Software-defined Vehicle.

Based on his contributions he was named IBM/Red Hat Industry Diamond member for Automotive and Manufacturing.

Harald also held leadership positions for over 13 years at BMW Group. In his last role at BMW, he was responsible for the IT strategy spanning from vehicle to cloud for BMW.

He was a strategic lead within BMWs Global Strategy Digitalization team reporting to the CDO and was responsible for cross functional teams for the implementation of projects like agile transformation of Vehicle Software and DevOps, the ramp up of internal and international software competence and Connected Backend for Digital Services.

He is passionate about software-defined initiatives, E/E architectures, open source and innovation, organizational transformation, and leading-edge software technologies.
